Monday insights...

I need a subscription box with candles, guise. I can only find one and it's like $35 a month. Dang, yo. I am not made of money. But this I need. Help a brother out.

Today's adventure is this years science fair projects. Nothing like convincing an 11 year old that yes, he is old enough to work on his own and two, that he need not wait until last minute to slap everything on a board for funsies. Not that it matters anymore, every school believes that children are special snowflakes and should never fail ever. Maybe it will change when he gets to junior high but right now when he gets his midterms, he sees a pass (even though number-wise it's like a low D) and he's all "Meh, good enough!".

And why, oh why, does my daughter ask me how to spell and then forget she asked and make me repeat letters nonstop until she finally decides to pay attention and write it down?

Don't get me wrong, love my brats. They just drive me nuts when they bring home "family projects" and think HEY FAMILY! This means Moms will do it all for me while I kick back and watch Adventure Time marathons.

And Ze Bebe has started crawling.  So I've also been attacking all of the shelves around her to hold things that belong to her and I don't mind her getting into.  She's 6 months on Thursday.  How did this happen?  I was pregnant yesterday, so depressing.

I just fell on a study that shows what states have the most amount of parents checking the exempt box on their kids kindergarten forms when it comes to immunization.  Now I get it, some people think the shot causes *insert whatever disease of the day they preach* so they don't want Samantha Snowflake to get the shots, so they opt out.  I disagree with them, but it's their parenting ideas and everyone is different.  But this study says some parents just don't do shots because they ARE TOO BUSY OMGWTFBBQ.  When does your child's health not become a priority?  Because you're too busy with work so it's too hard to juggle missing days and getting into the doctors?  WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN.  Okay, maybe I am more biased when it comes to doctors than most, but they have clinics that run different hours, including weekends.  There are shot clinics.  There are ways to get your kids protected against deadly diseases if YOU CHOOSE TO.  I have issues with lazy parents.  In 5 years you couldn't get your kid protected?  Wow.  Just... wow.

LOOK AT ME, I'M BECOMING A MOMMY BLOGGER WHOOOO!

Imagine me throwing my keyboard across the computer in a total flounce.  I'm out, bitches.

What subscriptions am I now getting?

Nerd block for the husband. I think we will be getting this one for the first time next week. Today they announced a kid's version. I'll wait to see some unboxing before I decide to try it. I am disappointed with the girl vs. boy kid one. I know the daughter would love it, but really, all of the pink? Come on now. I normally don't let things like that bother me but I think it's kinda silly when BOTH Eli and Rene enjoy the same type of junk and stuff. It's like the legos, why do they have to be color coordinated? ITS SO DUMB AND FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS ARGLE BARGLE....

LootCrate for Elijah. Now I don't know how I feel about this one right now. It's kind of a toss up. Some months have been awesome but I don't know about the box that will be coming next month. It may be a one month thing to see what happens with it.

Rhiannon and I both get ipsy.

Finally, for Lily I signed up for Citrus Lane. It looks super cute and I got a great code (which you would too, if you click the link). I don't know if I will continue at normal price seeing as she's only 6 months but right now it looks awesome for her.

My friend Toni said I lead her down a rabbit hole of subscription boxes. TRUE STORY. I want ALL OF THE BOXES. Every time I come across a new one I read everything I can about it so I can see if anyone else would be interested in it. This concept is entirely too awesome to me.

Ipsy "The Look of Love"

This would be my third bag from ipsy. I was initially disappointed with it, but mostly because I got blue eyeshadow. I knew it was coming when I read the description. The colors looked like they were directed at eye color. I am not sure who was the genius who decided that people with blue eyes look good with blue shadow, but I think they need a knock upside the head. Picky, picky, I know. I always tell myself to quit whining when it only costs me $10 a pop.

Anyways, for those of you just joining the class, lets explain the ipsy bag. Basically it's a make up bag that comes to your house once a month. For $10 you get a new cosmetic bag and 5 samples/products of their choosing, depending on your answers on a quiz they have you do before you create an account. The thing I really enjoy about ipsy is all the sneak previews they do (I HATE SURPRISES). The thing I hate is the amount of first world problems people have on the comments.

ON TO THE PRODUCTS

So this month's bag was pretty cute. Kind of a hot pink, but the inside is this leopard print. I kinda dig it. Usually Rhiannon and I can decide who keeps which bag, this month we are fighting over it. Inside I had a Zoya polish, Jesse's Girl 9 Pan Eye Shadow Compact, POP Beauty Plump Pout Mini, Uberliss Rituoil, and Mally Beauty Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner.

Zoya polish in Odette $9 - I will be the first one to admit I never use polish. I pick and it chips way too easy. I will polish my toes occasionally, but I usually have OPI and it's the kind of the thing I leave for when I get a pedicure. Rhiannon on the other hand, LOVES nail polish. She bawked a bit at this color until she let me do her toes this morning. I guess this is a big name brand and a lot of people LOVE it. It went on really smoothly and it has sort of a milky purple color.

Jesse's Girl 9 Pan Eye Shadow Compact in Behind Blue Eyes $3.50 - I was kinda bummed with this one at first, seeing as it's blue themed. But as my friend Devin, who is also an ipster (that is the worst nickname ever) pointed out, there are also some silvers and greys. It's pretty chalky and hard to get out of the package though. Don't know if I will use it much, but it's great for Rene.

POP Beauty Plump Pout Mini in Peony Petal $4 - I've tried a few pop items and never been a fan but I LOVE this gloss. Sure it doesn't smell great but I love the color and feel. Don't know if it really is plumping but I felt a bit of a tingle.

Uberliss Rituoil $3.32 - I am lazy most days and don't blow dry my hair. Why put forth the effort when I'm not seen in public, amirite? I have some hair oils that I use when I have my extensions put in made with argan oil. Full disclosure? They're professional brand and don't smell half as awesome as this one does. I am probably going to try and use it in my hair tonight when I shower, mostly because I decided what would make my reviews different is I actually use the products, not just open the bag. But really, I could use this as a perfume. Mmmm, orchids. Also, I love argan oil. It's great for your skin as well.

Mally Beauty Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner $15 - While I love the color, waterproof it is not. I put it on my hand, immediately smudged off. Put it on my eye, waited 10 minutes, it still smudged off. I don't think I would pay 15 for this, even if I loved the color. And I'm kind of addicted to the Urban Decay silver liner. SNOB ALERT.

This was my third month and I really do enjoy getting an ipsy. Rene enjoys it even more than I do. I ordered her a bag for next month. I figure I will give it another month to see if it's worth both of us getting a bag before I decide to discontinue my subscription. But srs guise, $35 approximately (without including the bag) worth of make up for $10 bucks? Totally worth it if it's your kind of thing. If you want to sign up, just follow this link here.

And so it begins...

I decided the other day that I really should start blogging again because it sometimes seems like people care what I have to talk about. I've been told I should do stand up. I'm just too lazy to write material and I would like to think I'm more offensive than I really am.

The idea stemmed from the discovery of a million different subscription boxes I want to try and introduce people into. Sure there's other people reviewing them but they're just not as in depth as they should be. I want to know how things actually work rather than just what happens when you open the package.

Sometimes I get approached with weird questions or funny crap that takes more rambling than Facebook allows me to accomplish.   And so this blog is born.
